Rod & Therese Chitty have been farming in Toodyay for 18 years after growing up here they expanded the family farm.

We purchase the stud from Danni and Rob Hewton Jerolyn stud Moodiarup December 2014. For family reasons Rob and Danni decided to sell their stud. They approached us as potential buyers as we had purchased their rams over the previous 2 years to join with our Dorset and Merino ewes. We were very impressed with the result of our fat lambs, so we asked Rob and Danni if they ever sold any of their ewes we would be interested in buying them. Not long after that conversation Rob rang and we found ourselves with a completed stud.

Our farm enterprise has been built from the ground up, we have owned our own farm for 18 years and have leased the family farm for the last 8 years. Rods extensive experience in the shearing and sheep industry had given him the knowledge and skill to produce sheep for their wool and meat.

Looking for a breed of ram to put over our young ewes for ease of birthing has always been a challenge. After researching the Ile De France breed we decided to give them a go. We were impressed with not only the increased percentage of lambs in our young ewes and also the rapid weight gains. We have found that the Ile De France breed of x breed lamb produces a more rounded, well finished and high percentage carcass.
